Click [Image] - [Tone Balance] to open the window. Tone Balance is another way of adjusting brightness.

The three sliders circled in red represent, from left to right, darkest part, middle part, brightest part. Slide them to adjust tone balance.

Histgram is the distribution map of brightness in the picture.
A photograph of which the histgram is equally distributed is generally said to be a good photograph.

This is how to remove noises from a scanned drawing.

This is the histgram of the above image.
The light gray area has some hill.
This means that the image is quite grayish.


Slide the right handle to left so that the light gray becomes brighter.

This is the result of the adjustment.
As you see, the gray became white while the black line did not get affected by the change.

[Tone Balance] cannot make as minute and precise control as [Color Adjustment] but is quite suitable for adjusting a plain image like this.

This seems to be quite a common technique for adjusting a scanned image.
